Deep-Water Port / Outer Harbour
Wilhelmshaven is Germany’s only deep-water port. The navigation channel is 300m wide and 18m below chart datum (chart datum = mean low water spring). The passage from the open sea to the cargo terminals on the deep-water navigation channel is just 23 nautical miles long. Utmost safety is ensured by a radio guidance system that covers all frequency ranges.
The four ship loading gantries in the Outer Harbour to load and discharge liquid bulks, dry bulks and gas as well as chemicals complement the services provided by Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW).
CTW is the only terminal in Germany with berths that can accommodate fully-laden ultra-large container vessels (ULCV) around the clock and the only tri-modal container terminal with 16 on-dock formation and preparation sidings that is supported by an adjacent 160ha-large freight village.
